Terms of Use Agreement
1. Agreement to Terms
By creating an account or using Intent ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use Intent.
- You must provide a valid phone number for verification.
- You must be a real person — no bots, scripts, or automated accounts.
- You may only create one account. Duplicate accounts may be removed.
- By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We rely on user-provided information and do not independently verify the age of users. If we have reason to believe you are under 18, we will immediately suspend your account.
3. Your Account
- You are responsible for all activity on your account.
- You must keep your login credentials secure.
- You must provide accurate information during signup. Misrepresenting your age, identity, or photos may result in account suspension.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at our discretion.
4. Community Guidelines
All users must follow the community guidelines outlined below. Violations may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent bans. Key rules include:
4.1 Prohibited Content
You may not post or share:
- Nudity, sexually explicit, or pornographic images
- Photos of minors (anyone under 18) unless accompanied by their parent or guardian
- Violent, graphic, or disturbing content
- Content that promotes or encourages self-harm or suicide
- Hate symbols, slurs, or discriminatory imagery
- Photos that are not of you (stolen photos, celebrity images, memes)
- Content promoting illegal activity, including but not limited to terrorism, human trafficking, or the sale of illegal substances
- Malicious code, viruses, or any software designed to harm or disrupt the App or other users' devices
4.2 Prohibited Behavior
You may not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate another user
- Send unsolicited sexual messages or explicit content
- Discriminate against or demean others based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic
- Solicit money, gifts, or other items of value from another user
- Spam, solicit, or promote commercial products, services, or investment opportunities
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, employment, or qualifications
- Attempt to collect personal information from other users (addresses, financial info, passwords)
- Use the App in connection with fraud, scams, pyramid schemes, or other deceptive practices
- Use any bot, scraper, crawler, or other automated tool to access or extract data from the App
- Share your account with another person or use another user's account
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Create fake or misleading profiles
- Manipulate or abuse the reporting system (filing false reports)
- Attempt to circumvent a ban by creating a new account
4.3 Safety
- No threats of violence — direct or implied
- No sharing of private information — do not post another user's personal details (phone number, address, workplace, etc.) without their consent
- No minors — if we have reason to believe a user is under 18, we will immediately suspend the account and escalate
5. Matches, Messages & Content
- Matches expire after 7 days from creation.
- Messages within expired matches are retained for 90 days and then permanently deleted, unless either user has an active report or ban (see Privacy Policy for details).
- You retain ownership of content you create (photos, text), but by posting it on Intent you grant us a limited license to display it within the App.
- We may remove any content that violates these Terms without notice.
6. Reporting & Moderation
- You can report users for behavior that violates these Terms using the in-app report feature.
- Reports are reviewed using a combination of AI-assisted triage and human review.
- We are not obligated to disclose the outcome of a report to either party.
- Abusing the report system (filing knowingly false reports) is itself a violation and may result in suspension.
7. Bans & Suspensions
- If you violate these Terms, we may issue a warning, temporarily suspend your account, or permanently ban you.
- Banned users will see a suspension notice upon opening the App.
- Banned users may appeal by contacting support@datewithintent.app.
- Banning is at our sole discretion. We are not required to provide detailed reasons for a ban.
- Attempting to create a new account after being banned is a further violation and any new accounts will also be banned.
8. Privacy
Your privacy matters to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your data.
9. Intellectual Property
- "Intent," the Intent logo, and all related branding are the property of Intent.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App or any part of it.
10. Disclaimers
- Intent is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy of information provided by other users.
- We do not conduct criminal background checks on users.
- We are not responsible for the behavior of users on or off the platform.
- We do not guarantee that you will find a match, relationship, or any specific outcome from using the App.
- We do not guarantee user safety. You are solely responsible for your own safety when interacting with other users, whether online or in person. We strongly recommend meeting in public places and informing someone you trust of your plans.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Intent and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to emotional distress, loss of data, or interactions with other users.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Intent and its owners, officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your interactions with other users, whether online or in person
- Any content you post or share through the App
13. Fees & Subscriptions
Intent is currently free to use. We may introduce paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases in the future. If we do, we will notify you in advance through the App. Any paid features will be clearly marked before purchase. Pricing, billing terms, and refund policies will be provided at that time.
14. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time from the Settings screen.
- We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.
- Upon account deletion, your profile data is removed. Message retention follows the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the App. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
17. Dispute Resolution & Arbitration
- Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except for claims that qualify for small claims court.
- Arbitration shall be administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and take place in the State of California.
- Class Action Waiver: You agree that any dispute resolution will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against Intent.
- You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@datewithintent.app within 30 days of creating your account, with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out."
